Join us at Learning Technologies
In the L&D world the Learning Technologies Conference and Exhibition is one of the key event highlights of the year and we’re excited to say we’re back this year with a host of exciting products, partnerships and seminar talks to share with you.
This year’s LT is returning to familiar territory, hosted at Kensington Olympia it spans across two days (31st January – 1st February) and will bring together over 8000 visitors all keen to see the latest trends and developments in the L&D space. We’re pleased to say we’re back at the café this year, but with a microlearning twist. We've teamed up with our bite-size workplace skills content partners, MicroLearn and we can't wait to talk to you about the power of microlearning and how this can help your learners to engage with learning and remember it!
For those that visited us last year, you'll remember we launched our new learning concept the Learning Ecosphere. Visitors at this years show will have another opportunity to pick up a copy from our stand and also explore how to implement actionable changes to their learning programme to balance traditional training methods, with new technology and trends such as BYOD and serious games.
There is a lot to pack into two days, so here's our top 5 things not to miss at LT this year:
1. Come and talk to us about microlearning at the MicroLearn café
Last year we formed a strategic alliance with bite size workplace skills content providers MicroLearn and this year at LT we're teaming up to showcase how workplace skills and compliance topics can be effectively delivered through bite-size eLearning. Following on from the success of MicroLearn's launch at last years show, their catalogue of eLearning has doubled in size. MicroLearn believe learning is personal and have created a suite of high-quality content to compliment this strategy - offering short, bite-sized eLearning that is both engaging and memorable. The MicroLearn library covers a diverse range of topics from customer service to data protection, so pop over to the MicroLearn café, grab a coffee and have a chat with us about all things bitesize!
2. Visit our minds-i stand
This year we have not one, but two stands. We’re excited to showcase our learning reinforcement app minds-i, designed to help beat the forgetting curve by harnessing the power of bite size microlearning. Our app can be accessed anywhere, at anytime and on any device, supporting the BYOD trend. minds-i gives learners the flexibility to be able to choose where and when to learn, making learning really stick. Visit us at stand Q8 to find out more, rest your feet and get comfortable on our sofa whilst you explore what minds-i can do for your organisation.
3. Learn how to fly a drone (the L&D way)!
Mike Hawkyard, Managing Director of our BAFTA nominated games studio Amuzo will be giving a talk in Theatre 8, Wednesday 31st, 11:45 - 12:15 about how to fly drones (the L&D way). In recent months, Amuzo have been encouraging children to build LEGO® models to rescue LEGO® Mini Figures trapped on erupting volcanoes and training people how to fly Star Wars™ Drones.
In this session Mike might make flying a Star Wars drone live on stage look easy, however he’s had a lot of practice (and crashes!). Mike will explore how learning by making mistakes can help to reinforce learning, using the drone training mobile app as an example of how effective this type of learning can be.
You can expect to learn more about:
- Learning by making mistakes
- Action based learning
- Learning reinforcement
- Bite size learning
- Mobile learning
4. Find out how to engage learners with campaign learning
Join our Head of Marketing at Unicorn Training, Abi Pears and Creative Director at MicroLearn, Alison Soper in Theatre 9, Thursday 1st February at 12:30 - 13:00, with a session that looks at how to cut through the noise of the busy world we live in and effectively engage learners and change behaviour. This session will explore the parallels between L&D and marketing, specifically the approach to campaigns and how L&D can use this established marketing technique to embed behavioural change.
You can expect to learn more about:
- Campaign learning
- Learning reinforcement
- Diagnostic assessments
- L&D / Marketing parallels
- Learning engagement
5. Unicorns everywhere! #BelieveInUnicorns #LearningEcosphere
Year-on-year our competitions always prove to be a great hit and this year we've got a couple of different ways to bag yourself an elusive unicorn..
Back by popular demand – come and try your hand at our swipe game and you could be the proud owner of your very own giant Unicorn. Loaded with questions covering everything from learning trends to star wars trivia, this is the perfect way to trial one of our app offerings aimed at getting your staff engaged whilst challenging them to prove their knowledge in a topic of your choice. Quick, easy and low cost to implement, it's a viable solution for organisations looking to introduce a fully branded, serious games app to their learning strategy.
Get online and get involved! We’ll be running a Twitter competition throughout both days of LT. We're hiding Learning Ecosphere segments in the Learning Technologies exhibition hall, all you need to do is find them! Once you’ve found a segment of our Learning Ecosphere tweet us a picture @unicorntraining and use the hashtags #BelieveinUnicorns #LearningEcosphere and pop over and see us at stand P14 to claim your prize.
To finish off the first day at LT we thought we’d host a Unicorn party, so we’ll be serving complimentary drinks from 15:30, be sure to pop over to see us at stand P14 to get your exclusive invitation (for those who follow us on social media, you may notice a familiar face on your invite).
There's lots going on this year, so come and join us for a coffee and a chat about all things Unicorn and MicroLearn, have a go at our familiar swipe game Quizcom or take part in our Twitter competition to be in with the chance of winning one of our infamous giant unicorns! We’ll be blogging live from LT, as well as tweeting from @unicorntraining. Pop over and see us at stand P14 and Q8, as well as take some time to relax in the MicroLearn café!
