New Media Writing Prize Winners Announced
Last night, Unicorn Training attended the Bournemouth University New Media Writing Prize. Now in its fourth year, the international prize showcases exciting and creative stories and poetry integrating a variety of digital media. You can view the complete shortlist here. Esmeralda Kosmatopoulos was crowned Overall Winner for her entry SIRI&me, and Mathew Charles, Juan Passarelli, Ann Luce and Rob Mundy scooped the People's Choice award for their work, The Engineer. We were sponsoring the student competition, offering a first prize of a three-month work placement at Unicorn. The student winner was David Devanny. You can view his winning entry, orange sweatshirt, here. David Devanny is from Bradford. A graduate of the Warwick Writing Programme, he completed his MA at Sheffield Hallam in 2012. He co-runs the specialist poetry publishing house The New Fire Tree Press, for which he is editing a library of experimental digital poetries. He is also studying for a doctorate in digital literatures at University College Falmouth. David's poems have been published widely in magazines and anthologies and most recently appear in his pamphlet wasps on the way (Mews Press, 2012). Congratulations David, we look forward to welcoming you to the Unicorn team!
