NEWS: We're Hired! Unicorn To Take on Charity Apprentice Challenge.
Unicorn is the first local organisation to sign up for the Diverse Abilities Plus Apprentice Challenge and take on the charity’s own Alan Sugar at Bournemouth's The Cumberland Hotel on June 4. The spin-off challenge is set to be fun, great for team bonding and very competitive and is being run by the Dorset disability charity that supports children and adults with profound physical and learning disabilities. Eric, one of the people the charity supports, will be taking on the role of business man Alan Sugar and his team of judges will include Diverse Abilities staff. Charlotte Martines, a configuration specialist at Unicorn, rallied up the troops at the online training company that celebrated its 25th anniversary last year and successfully recruited two teams to take part in the challenge. “Within 24 hours of proposing the idea to the office, I had recruited enough people for two teams, which just shows how the idea of The Apprentice Challenge really captured everyone's imagination,” said Charlotte. “As a Dorset-based company everyone really wanted to help raise awareness and funds for Diverse Abilities Plus as it is a very worthy local cause. It's sure to be a great day, although the Unicorn team that achieves the most throughout the challenge might be unbearable in the office the next day!” she added. Lottie Forte, who works at Diverse Abilities Plus and is organising the event, said: “It is fantastic that Unicorn Training is supporting us and are getting into the spirit of the challenge. With two teams competing there is guaranteed to be some healthy rivalry, while both also bid to prove themselves top dogs overall.” The challenge is a full day event taking place from 9am until 5.30pm. Teams of six will take part in three apprentice themed tasks and compete against each other in order to succeed and win on the day. There will also be a pre-event task for participants to complete before they arrive on the day. The challenges will be themed around equality, diversity and disability, ensuring participants will also learn a lot on the day, as well as having great fun. To enter the Apprentice Challenge the team fee is £100. The minimum age for entry is 18 years.
