I recently attended the CISI Essex Branch Annual Dinner at the County Hotel, Chelmsford. Along with over 80 guests, I enjoyed an evening hosted by Graham Gooch OBE DL, former English cricket captain, and helped contribute towards City of Chelmsford Mencap, an independent local charity who provide services for people with learning disabilities.

Reflecting on the evening our non-executive Director Clive Shelton, Chartered FCSI, CISI Essex branch president commented "I was delighted to see the great support for the new CISI Essex branch. Many thanks to all those who attended and our sponsors. It was a brilliant and enjoyable evening, attracting many distinguished guests, and provided an excellent networking opportunity, with good food and very entertaining and interesting speakers. As an inaugural annual dinner, it was a great success; I can't wait for our next event,"

Guests of the evening included Sir Alan Yarrow, Chartered FCSI (Hon), CISI Chairman; Vicky Ford MP, Member of Parliament for Chelmsford; Sabine Nussey, charity representative for City of Chelmsford Mencap; Michael Truong, service user, City of Chelmsford Mencap; Philippa Foster Back CBE, CISI Board member; Richard Stockdale, Chartered FCSI, CIS Board member; and Frank Moxon, Chartered FCSI, CISI Board member.

This morning Clive also attended the CISI Essex Branch CPD meeting: Bank of England Update & Brexit Negotiations where we currently stand. The event also held at the County Hotel, Chelmsford covered an in-depth Bank of England update, looking at the short and long-term future in the finance sector. Speakers included Alex Golledge, Deputy Agent, Bank of England. Frances Coppola, Writer banking, finance & economics. Frances is a high profile writer and speaker on the subjects of banking, finance and economics. Interesting times ahead.
