Unicorn supports Last Mile Learning initiative

Unicorn supports Last Mile Learning initiative Unicorn has answered the call for learning professionals to volunteer their time and expertise by signing up to a ‘Global Giveback’ programme via Last Mile Learning - helping people who do good… do it better. Last Mile Learning is a key initiative of LINGOs (Learning in non-government organisations), a not-for-profit organisation who work to support those working in the fields of humanitarian relief, development, conservation and social justice. LINGO The aim is to give these people the courseware and knowledge to do their job even better. LINGOs promote sustainable global development by building the capacity of the people delivering programs all around the world.  To do this they’ve called for volunteers from the learning sector to create and donate accessible self-led learning for a global audience of humanitarian and development workers. We are pleased to offer our  help, and over the coming months a member of our award winning Instructional Design Team will be designing 90 minutes worth of eLearning on ‘Influencing without Authority’.  The interactive modules will be built using Articulate Storyline, with an emphasis on accessibility, providing good content underpinned by good writing. We see this as an excellent opportunity to help an incredibly worthy cause, plus allowing our Instructional Design Team to enhance their script writing skills, and extend their knowledge of rapid-development tools. Last Mile Learning have a vision for “anyone working to reduce poverty and alleviate suffering in the developing world to have access to world-class learning opportunities at little or no cost”. Unicorn is proud to support this aim and will be providing full support to the Instructional Design Team by providing the time, tools and software required. By providing the frontline staff with good quality learning materials we can help to make them more effective.  This increases the health and education opportunities for those living in poverty, and will help to ensure they live in clean and safe environments. “I am only one, but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something; and because I cannot do everything, I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.” – Edward Everett Hale RESOURCES: LINGOs Last Mile Learning Global Giveback http://lingos.wordpress.com/2012/04/02/announcing-global-giveback-2012/
