What’s new from Unicorn this quarter?

Q3 Updates to our courses

This year has already seen extensive updates to our Off The Shelf (OTS) General Risk and Compliance (GRC) courses to reflect changes in regulations, to focus on industry hot topics and to generally enhance the learner's experience. Please view the video below to see how this momentum has continued throughout Q3.

We are very excited to have started the journey of converting our courses to the new Unicorn LMS eCreator 2.0 authoring tool. This has enabled us to enhance the look and feel of the content with new graphics on a larger canvas. Another added advantage to the conversion is that the courses will soon have a print to PDF feature and will also be downloadable onto the Learning Path app, where they can be undertaken offline and auto-resynced when you are back on your network. The conversions and enhancements will continue into Q4 and will be finished by mid-2019.

Unicorn Training Course Updates - Autumn 2018

Work continues on bringing together a variety of Mortgage and Home Finance related training courses into a comprehensive suite of learning. This will provide the learner with information that not only complies with regulation but also features a number of case studies in which you can apply knowledge and learn best practices.

The case studies include giving advice to potential borrowers and completing the lending process. We are expecting to release the new suite in Q4 2018. These will not be part of the General Risk and Compliance catalogue so please get in touch with your Customer Success Manager for details.

What's coming up

Senior Manager & Certification Regime

Mid-November is expected to see the release of our updated suite of six courses which relate to all areas of the Senior Managers and Certification Regime (SM&CR).

These updates will reflect the regulatory changes for firms as part of the extension of the regime which is due to go LIVE on 10 December. The courses cover all staff who are subject to the new regime, providing comprehensive training on the key aspects and the application of practical tools to help.

In addition to our comprehensive suite of GRC eLearning, we support firms with many elements of Accountability II. The Unicorn SMR Tool, along with our fully featured T&C forms workflow system,

CPD tracking and reporting plus new Certification Regime system are all included at no extra cost for our Unicorn LMS users, equally these can be used standalone without the need to utilise the LMS.

Anti-money laundering - coming soon to a Unicorn LMS near you in 2019!

As previously mentioned, we are re-designing our AML course to bring it up to date, improve user experience with interactions and case study relevancy. We are also enhancing the content surrounding Counter Terrorist Financing and its parallels to AML preventative measures.

This course is targeted for release in Q1 2019 and if any AML training is needed prior to Q1, our current course is still very much in use.

Risk & Operational Resilience

We are pleased to announce that we are going to be revising and amalgamating our current Risk Management and Three Lines of Defence courses.

We will be combining them with the latest thinking on operational resilience from the industry to bring your learners a new and improved course that focuses on the application of risk management and resilience tools and practices in firms.

This new course will be available in Q1 2019.

eCreator 2.0 client sessions

We often get asked by clients “although the content is OTS, how can we weave our own policies, processes, procedures and product training into courses when we roll them out?” The answer is using our FREE and recently enhanced authoring tool eCreator 2.0! Using eCreator means you can create your own content and then ‘top and tail’ the GRC course you are rolling out.

To assist clients in understanding the enhancements, we ran a series of workshops during Q3. The sessions were well attended and we received great feedback, such as “Excellent session”, “The enhancements that have been made make it stand up to the top authoring tools like Storyline”, “This will make content much more personal to my firm – I’m excited about getting started”.

Our lead graphic and learning designers talked about Unicorn’s approach to learning design, including best practice and use of learning theories to provide strategy and structure. The enhancements for eCreator were discussed, and demonstrated, so that the clients were able to see how they might use them to improve their own courses.
